Platinum Land Title Agency, Inc. has been a dream fulfilled for President Margaret “Peggy” Burt. Having more than two decades of experience in the legal and title insurance fields, specializing in commercial and residential transactions, Peggy decided to open her own company when she noticed a void left by the other title companies she had worked for.

Choosing the Voyage

“I found that there was no loyalty between the ‘Company’ and the employees who were doing the work and making the money,” Peggy said. “In addition, the companies I worked for had no concept of customer service and frequently made promises to the customers that were never followed through on.”

After years of working for an underwriter, as well as one of the largest builders in the United States, one particularly disappointing experience with a local title company gave Peggy the final incentive to start up her own company where both the employees and customers would be better served.

Platinum Land Title Agency, Inc. opened in Cape Coral and Lehigh Acres with six employees in November, 2003.

Setting Sail

The company has grown in leaps and bounds since formed in 2003 by providing customers with the type of customer service lacking among other companies.

The initial staff of Platinum Land Title Agency, Inc. had worked for Peggy previously under another company. They knew that, by working together as a team, they would be successful. Their ambition and dedication has been contagious, affecting each of the approximately 30 employees who now call the company home. In addition, each new employee has brought a fresh batch of ideas and, often, an additional Lee County customer base to the company.

“We quickly grew the Fort Myers market to a point where it made sense to open the office on Presidential Court,” Peggy said. “At the same time we hired five more staff members in the Cape office who had worked for me at the last position I held and who brought with them over 60 orders per month to add to the already busy Cape Coral location.”

The marketing staff has expanded with each new office opened and business continues to flow in. After handling a large land acquisition for a realtor out of LaBelle, an office was opened in the LaBelle area. While working on that location, the company was contacted by a downtown Fort Myers realtor who requested that a small satellite be opened in the downtown area, and the Grand Avenue location was born.

“All title companies offer two things, title insurance and customer service. It’s what we do and how we do it that sets us apart from other title companies,” Peggy said. “We have many practices, or ‘standards of service’ by which my staff and I govern ourselves. By providing a platinum level of service, we are able to distinguish ourselves from the competition.”

Platinum Land Title Agency, Inc. is owned by Margaret “Peggy” Burt, and Eric Sanchez. Peggy is the only owner who participates actively in the corporation. Eric Sanchez, a stockholder, lives in Indiana and is a silent partner.
